Info meeting for international students with the Foreigner’s Office in Hamm

The International Office nvites you to an information event with the Foreigner’s Office in Hamm (Ausländerbehörde Hamm). This event is open to all international students of HSHL to get more information about immigration law - as a student, but also for the graduation time when you will look for a job after your studies. The presentation will be held in German and will be translated consecutively into English.

In the online info event, the Foreigner’s Office in Hamm will explain the central regulations of § 16b of the Residence Act (§ 16b Aufenthaltsgesetz), which regulates residence in the Federal Republic of Germany for the purpose of studying.
We will cover the following topics, among others:
1. Necessary requirements for a residence permit for the purpose of studying
- Which documents must be submitted with the application for a residence permit?
- What kind of financial proof or other documents are required?
- What happens if the standard period of study (Regelstudienzeit) is exceeded?
2. Working regulations during the studies
- How much work is permitted while studying?

3. Options after completing your studies
- Permission to stay and job opportunities after graduation: What options does the Residence Act offer you for starting a career in Germany?
- Possibilities for extension and transition to employment, e.g. with the Blue Card
- Information on applying for a residence permit to seek for a job
This event gives you an overview of the legal regulations and helps you to plan your stay in Germany for the future.
