International Buddy Program: Summer Semester 2025
Registration for the International Buddy Program for the summer semester 2025 begins in January 2025.
With any questions you can always contact the International Office.
International Buddy Program connects HSHL-students from higher semesters with new-coming international students. It is peer-to-peer help to orient in the beginning of life in Germany and on campus of HSHL. And who knows, maybe it leads to a long-term friendship with your new buddy!?
International students:
Will you be arriving at HSHL soon? International Buddy Program is open to all international degree-seeking students, as well as exchange (guest) students. So sign up now!
Local students:
Any student of HSHL can be a buddy. You are an international student of a higher semester? Even better – you mastered the same challenges that the new students are facing now and your expertise will be of great help! Your task is to welcome one (or several, if you like) international students in the beginning of their life chapter in Germany and studies at our university. For participation in a buddy-program, it is important that you have some free time in the beginning of semester.
For winter semester: in August / September
For summer semester: in March / April.
How does Deutsche Bahn work? Where is my next lecture? Where to find the Examination and Study Organization and the cheapest place to eat in the town? In the beginning, international students may have many, perhaps, banal questions, which are easier to ask to a friend. A Buddy is the first person who an international student meets in Germany.
-
What international buddies usually do?
- Show the most important places on Campus
- Help around in town and answer questions about everyday life
- Introduce to a student life with other locals
- Practice German or English
-
Reasons to be a buddy?
- Make new friends around the world – HSHL has around 400 international students, and there will be more!
- Practice foreign languages – for your future internship in … Australia?
- Do a good thing for karma – volunteer and get a certificate from the International Office. Your volunteer work is a clear advantage for applications to future (student) jobs, or scholarships (especially, at HSHL).
