The research area Production and Industry 4.0 deals with the planning, analysis and optimization of work and production systems. Here, the various disciplines of production, e.g., industrial engineering, lean management, production technology or quality assurance, are considered on the one hand in the classical sense, but on the other hand also against the background of the constant change in production, which is currently brought about, for example, by the fourth industrial revolution under the term Industry 4.0. The laboratories of this topic area include a learning factory on lean management, a digital worker assistance system for assembly and picking tasks, an optical 3D measuring device for measuring components, mechanical joining techniques, hybrid joining technologies and a 3D printer.
