Economic Sciences and Technology
The aim of the "Technical Consulting and Management" study programme is the qualification of students for management assignments and consulting activities in a professional environment with a focus on technology. This is not only done with a view to the classic consulting industry, but also with an eye towards career entry into positions in the technical management field, for example, in the manufacturing industry, which involve project and staff responsibilities.
Speaking two "languages" – understanding both worlds
The degree course is based on both an economic and a technical foundation. Building on the basics acquired in a bachelor degree course, for example, “Industrial Engineering with Business Studies”, the economic foundation conveys in-depth knowledge from the fields of business management and business control. Project and organisational management are covered and complemented with methods of strategic business consultancy, such as organizational health.
The technical foundation conveys advanced specialist knowledge in technical management, product design and development. Knowledge in production management and innovative production technologies is deepened; industrial engineering addresses, among other things, methods of work scheduling and lean production, which are, for example, important for the determination of implementation of rationalisation potentials in consulting projects.
Optimisation and quantitative methods
The contents are complemented with mathematical fundamentals in optimisation and quantitative methods, as they can be applied for the improvement and statistical analysis of manufacturing processes.
Consulting skills
The profile of the master's programme is rounded off by interdisciplinary courses in the field of "Consulting Skills": The students learn, among other things, to conduct negotiations and presentations in English – as is required in globally operating companies today. The master's thesis can be written in cooperation with a company while working – this paves the way for a direct career start or for personal development.
The degree is "Master of Science".
